Honored Contributorhelp for audio codec using VHDL
i am a begineer at using altera DE2 board and VHDL. i have to complete my project with in 10 days time but dont have any idea of where to start and how.. help .........
i need to build a duplex audio system that works similar to a phone but here CDMA must be considered. first i would like to have some good advice on where to start and how .... on audio CODEC any help would be more than appreciated72 Replies
Altera_ForumIt looks like the i2c_controller is indeed missing from the files, that's why you can't compile the project. I don't recognise the component ports, it doesn't look like something from opencores but more like a custom component made for the demonstration.

actually, i want to do a project to produce any funny sound. So, i thought that the file uploaded by @mbharat will help me...
first of all i need to create sound using vhdl. Then, i can change the sound by manipulating the frequency. But i dnt know how to do. i saw the file by mbharat have audio codec, thats why i thought it will help me because im really zero in VHDL Quartus II.. tq - Altera_Forum

sorry to bother u, i tried to run ur coding using quartus II 9.1sp2 web edition and DE1 board, but there are error during compilation the entire file with DE1_Audio_AdcDac.vhd as a top level. What should i do? The errors are: Error: Node instance "i2cController" instantiates undefined entity "i2c_controller" Error: Quartus II Analysis & Synthesis was unsuccessful. 1 error, 1 warning Error: Quartus II Full Compilation was unsuccessful. 3 errors, 1 warning when i click the error its appear at this line: i2cController : i2c_controller port map (i2cClock20KHz,scl,sda,i2cControllerData,reset,i2cRun,done,'0',ack); ur response and ur help is really appreciated. tq - Altera_Forum
bro i am using audio codec for ADC conversion , so can you kindly suggest which one of the above code should i use .. i am using DE2-115 board.

Thanks for asking. I realized that i had not updated the links on the DE1 site ever since I quit being a faculty.
Anyway, to answer your question, the controller for the DE1 should work since it is the same audio codec IC on the DE2-115: http://www.harpgroup.org/digitalsystemsdesign/ee3921/audio/vhdl/ Good luck. - Altera_Forum
thankyou mbharat for reply..i just want to know that which one of the vhdl codes which you have uploaded should i use just for
ADC conversion in DE2_115 board..do i need to use all codes? because i just want the ADC conversion of signal coming from line input.. thanks.. looking forward for your reply.. - Altera_Forum
