I put it to the forums as well to see if anybody had found an alternative to me putting down the FTDI + CPLD along with licensing the USB Blaster (which you are correct that it can be licensed). It would be interesting to know what the licensing fee is, though I doubt Altera would want you to post it to the forum :)
