Generate waveform using CORDIC and DDS

Hi.

I come across a lot of article on generating sin and cos waveform using CORDIC method.

Can CORDIC alone generate sine or cos waveform without DDS(phase accumulator and so on)?

Or have to work together with DDS whereby CORDIC is a phase to amplitude block?

CORDIC just act as phase to amplitude block?
