FPGA to PC high speed communications

I am looking for the most simple method for an FPGA to send data to, and receive data from, a PC at relatively high speed of 5MBits/second. The way I have done this previously is by using a FT232 ...

Here's my FTDI testing notes:

The high-speed devices can operate in 60MB/s bursts in synchronous FIFO mode.
