FPGA to PC high speed communications

I am looking for the most simple method for an FPGA to send data to, and receive data from, a PC at relatively high speed of 5MBits/second. The way I have done this previously is by using a FT232 ...

It's a virtual com port. There would be only USB connector, no COM ports. And FTDI to FPGA interface should handle 5 Mbits/s.
