File Compression in QUARTUS II 9.1SP2

I am currently using quartus ii software build 350 03/24/2010 sj web edition to design my Cyclone II based projects.

I want to compress my .sof output files into smaller .jic ones to save time after POR in my target.

For that reason I added the sof file properties COMPRESSION in the convert programming files menu. After reset, the target continuously reloads the program from the EPCS4 device now.

I found that there is a problem within the Quartus Software 9.1SP2 and Altera offers a patch to fix it.

However, when I tried to install the quartusii-9.1sp2-2.46-windows.exe file, my PC responds

quartus ii 9.1 is not installed on this machine. the patch setup will exit now.

What might be the reason ? I am using MicroSoft WINDOWS 7 :).

    Windows 7 was only officiallly supported in 10.0

    why not try 11.0sp1?

    thank you for the information.

    I am willing to use quartus 11.0sp1, however, there are restrictions in the company I am working for. For that reason I have to use quartus ii 9.1sp2.

    I tried to upgrade the system of a colleague, who is using windows xp.

    The Quartus software which is running there is the same as mentioned above.

    It was not possible to install the patch on his computer either.

    Which version do you have installed on your PC

    You didn't tell us which version you are using. This is just the build number, the date of the build and it tells us that you use the Web Edition.

    Are you sure you have Quartus II 9.1 installed?

    Maybe you can install Quartus II 9.1 SP2 directly:

    indeed I am currently using that version.

    When starting Quartus II calling HELP --> About Quartus II you will read :

    Quartus II Version 9.1 Build 350 03/24/2010 SJ Web Edition

    Service Pack Installed : 2

    Did anyone install that patch quartusii-9.1sp2-2.46-windows.exe, who is not using Web Edition ?
