Distinction between Cyclone IV E and Cyclone IV GX in Device Family Support Tables

In documents such as the CIC MegaCore Function User Guide or the FIR Compiler User Guide, I consistently observe that the Cyclone IV GX is included in the device family support tables, but the Cyclone IV E is not. I notice the same trend in the context of targeted devices for design examples, even when they do not seem to involve transceivers.

Is it actually the case that the only the Cyclone IV GX is supported, and not the Cyclone IV E, or is it simply an oversight? For clarity, please answer in the context of the CIC MegaCore Function or FIR Compiler User Guide (or similar example for the sake of this question).

Thanks!

i suspect it's oversight. the MegaWizard allows you to generate a CIC, FIR I, and FIR II targeting Cyclone IV E

I appreciate your reply. I had performed the same experiment if you will, but was hesitant to not ask if there was more to the story.

i would use Cyclone IV E with confidence. there are some mismatches between documentation and the tool, but at the end of the day Quartus is usually the solid indicator
