Debugging an FPGA over ethernet

ALTERA's quartus-III can be used to debug a VHDL code running on STRATIX-III using JTAG.

I'm looking for a debugger that will debug the FPGA over ethernet. The PC running the debugger will be connected to the FPGA using an IP to JTAG converter.

Is it possible ?

Thanks.

You could use EthernetBlaster Communication Cable (Download Cable) that is available from Altera for configuring and debugging Altera FPGA based systems.

An ethernet enabled programming cable sounded fab until I checked out the price: $575. What a !@#$ rip-off. You could buy a brand-new Wall-Mart PC, including a Vista license, to do that job for just $300.

    That is what I mean.

I do not think that the currect release is certified on Vista at this time.

    I might be wrong.

I was sort of joking with you on the topic.

You are absolutely right about the price delta.
