Altera UP 1 CPLD Board

A book called rapid prototyping of Digital system references a Altera UP 1 CPLD Board for project development. The book is over 11 years old and I am finding it hard to located this board for sale. Does any one know if I can order the UP 1 CPLD board so that I can develop some of the digital projects in the book? I checked Altera's University Program website and did not see the part, I also checked digikey, ebay and google in general. Am I SOL?

Do not bother getting this board, it is ancient, the tools no longer support it, and the devices are missing many useful features.

    Buy a Terasic DE0-nano

Anything you could try on a UP1, you can do 100x better on a DE0-nano.

Buy the board, try some of the example designs, and then come back to this forum and ask questions. You'll get plenty of help here.

    Cheers,

The latest edition of the book uses the current tools and is based on the UP-2 and UP-3 boards.

UP2 = FLEX10K and UP3 = Cyclone I. Neither of these are supported by Quartus 12 Web Edition.

My previous recommendation still holds - buy the DE0-nano.
