Altera FPGA LED switches OFF after loading the sof file

Hi all,

I am trying to load my Altera Arria - II FPGA with the .sof file generated. The loading is successful but the FPGA LEDs switches OFF when it is supposed to turn ON. When I program the FPGA with a .sof file generated by my colleague who uses the same project, it works. My question is can u tell me as to why does this happen??

I did a subversion checkout of the project file, opened .qpf file in quartus software, compiled it and tried loading the .sof file using the programmer. Could you guys tell me what should I do to correct it??..Does it have to do with Operating system?? We both use the same Quartus II 64-bit version 14.0.0 Build 200 software from Altera.

    How is this LED operated? what is it connected to? What is this sof file? are you programming the same .sof file as him?

    so basically I am using the same base project as my colleague, compiling it and trying to load the .sof file into the fpga. Unfortunately it does nt work for me. When I load the .sof file created from his project, it works fine.

    Its very hard to debug because there are no errors indicated by the quartus software.

    Your post has far too little detail:

    What LED is it? one of the ones connected to the FPGA or some other FPGA peripheral?

    Did you compile it with the same version of quartus (linux/windows and 32/64 bit are all different versions, even if the version number is the same).

    Does it have full timing specs?

    Is it on to the same board?

    Well I was able to make the LED blink by loading the NIOS II with the firmware through eclipse compiler. However I was getting error with cygwin because I have a Windows 8.1 OS and after searching for solutions in the Altera forum, I installed an updated version of cygwin and loaded the quartus/cygwin/bin with the new updates bin files. So the current status is I solved this cygwin error but I have one error which is Error : 127 and my .elf file is deleted from the project folder. Could you tell me what do I need to do with it?? I found that it has got to do something with the PATH variable in the environment variables. I tried the solution but it does not work. I found a post in the Altera Forum similar to the error :127 I have got but there is no solution for that post. Can you guys tell me what should I do??

    well the problem is solved. The solution was to install next version of quartus 14.1. I had an older 14.0 version and was not compatible with the windows 8.1 OS. I had problems linking the BIN files of the quartus.
