Transceivers XCVR

I just bought an Arria II GX evaluation kit. I need to test the transceivers with different cable lengths and I found a project:

1ch_8b_1250Mbps with reference clock for XCVR at 125 MHz

8b/10b is not enabled, and then how can the bit rate can be 1250 Mbps, shouldn't it be 1000 Mbps=8b*125MHz?

How do I modify parameters for the transceiver? There is a .v file in the project but no reference to parameters like 8b/10b, data rate match fifo and the like.
