Questions about Altera Embedded Systems Development Kit, Cyclone III Edition

I have a Altera Embedded Systems Development Kit, Cyclone III Edition. There are 2 example project inside the CD (LCD and standard). Anyone know why the software example - memtest can only run in the project - LCD ?

When I run the memtest in the other project - standard, it would gives error -Data bus test failed at bit 0x1.
