i2s audio i/o for Stratix III dsp development kit

Hello,

Is there any sample code for usage of the audio i/o connectors on the HSMC expansion board?

In the examples included with the starter kit, I see some for the LEDs and A/Ds & D/As, but nothing for using the audio connectors.

Am I correct in thinking one would need to implement logic to perform i2s communication using the HSMC pins listed for the audio CODEC in the HSMC reference manual? Is there any sort of startup or initialization or other functionality needed that I might not expect? Or something to control things like sample rate, bit depth, etc?
