Regarding your issue, there are a few possible causes, ranked by severity:
- Chip damage – If the FPGA chip is damaged, it cannot be repaired.
- Power system failure on the board – This could cause the FPGA to receive abnormal power supply. If the board is not a complex one like Agilex or Stratix, it is relatively easier to repair. You can refer to the official schematics and check the key power rails. In most cases, the issue is likely due to a faulty Power regulator chip.
- JTAG connection issue – Since the USB cable communicates with the FPGA through the JTAG chain, you may try using a different USB Blaster or check the continuity of the JTAG connection for troubleshooting.
