How access UART and Jtag at same time?

Hi, If JTag is reconfigured to uart_0, then printf is re-directed to COM port. How do I use JTag for Console printf while COM port printf is directed to COM port? how to do that? any simple ex...

Or just assign one or the other to the stderr device and have it automatically opened/closed, just like the stdin/stdout. I use this for printing... wait for it... error messages!
