Well, for example look at Altera's StratixII GX Audio/Video Development kit with two SFP baskets soldered on-board plus 8 (? don't remember exactly) SERDES links over HSMC connector. Design own HSMC-boards with SFP's and deal with.

Theoretically EP2GX family has upto 20 SERDES per chip.
