evaluation kit mac address wrong

Hello I'm trying to connect the evaluation kit to the internet, but it is not able to get an IP address by dhcp looking at the packet it look lik it has a wrong mac address ff:ff:ff:f...

This is a Nios Embedded Evaluation Kit Cyclone III edition

and I was looking at the dhcp server log, so this is really the source MAC

once it was 07:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff, see the log line below

daemon.log.0:Mar 17 16:43:04 obsfrog dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 07:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff via eth0: unknown client

then it was ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff ?????

we expected it to be something like

00:07:ed..... (altera device) on board near RJ45
