Custom component registers mapping

Hi,

Once I create my own custom component(with MM avalon interfaces) in Sopc builder and insert it into a nios system...I'd like to know how I have to map its registers in order to allow processor to communicate with it....?

What kind of nios commands do I have to use to write and read data to'/from my custom block?
