Can I safely provide the DE2's GPIO pins with 5V?

Hi guys,

I'm interfacing an ADC to the board that provides an output of 3.4 V. However, it seems that the ADC spikes to 5V at times. I'm worried this might damage the DE2 so I figured I'd check first before damaging the board.

    DE2 has series resistors and protection diodes at the GPIO pins, it should be safe under this conditions.
