Why is my programming file not updated when I use Update Memory Initialization flow?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software versions 12.0 SP2 and earlier, the Update Memory Initialization (quartus_cdb --update_mif) flow does not work for designs targeting Cyclone® V and Arria® V devices. Due to this problem, no error is generated, but the programming file is not updated.

Resolution

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software version 12.1
