Why does the F‑Tile PMA/FEC Direct PHY IP exhibit poor performance under the “GPON” configuration rule in Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 25.1.1?

Description

You might observe the performance degradation of a PON design that uses the F-Tile PMA/FEC Direct PHY IP with "FGT PMA configuration rules" set as "GPON" in the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 25.1.1.

This is due to one parameter related to the GPON configuration rule is not set properly by the new firmware that is incorporated in the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 25.1.1..

Resolution

To work around the above problem, you can add the following assignment to the project .qsf file:

set_instance_assignment -name HSSI_PARAMETER "fw_clearing_regsiter_attr=ENABLE" -to <rx_serial_pin>

 

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software.
