Why does the Example Design Generation of eCPRI IP for the Agilex™ 7 FPGA F-tile device variant fail in the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 24.3?
Description
In the Agilex™ 7 FPGA F-Series and I-Series devices, users may encounter a failure when attempting to generate the eCPRI Example Design (ED) for the Agilex™ 7 FPGA F-tile device variant using the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 24.3. This problem is specifically observed when using devices with speed grade -3. The root cause is a limitation in the IOPLL specification for these devices, which only supports a frequency range of 600 to 1250 MHz. This restricted range does not meet the frequency requirements for the eCPRI ED configuration, resulting in a generation failure.
Similarly, ED generation is not supported for the Agilex™ 7 FPGA M-Series devices. The failure in this case is caused by the configuration of the reconfigurable IOPLL used in the eCPRI ED, which is incompatible with the Agilex™ 7 FPGA M-Series architecture.
Resolution
To work around this problem, the recommendation is to use the Agilex™ 7 FPGA F-Series or I-Series devices with speed grade -1 or -2 when generating the eCPRI Example Design for Agilex™ 7 FPGA F-tile device variant in the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 24.3.
