Unable to Install DS-5: “Error running msiexec”

Description

You might see an error message similar to the following when you try to install DS-5:

Error running msiexec ... Program ended with an error exit code

The DS-5 installer does not run correctly if the 8dot3name extension is not enabled on the volume where you attempt to install.

Resolution

Avoid installing DS-5 to a path name containing spaces.

If it is necessary to support spaces in the path name, enable the 8dot3name extension on the installation volume. For further information, refer to:
