Getting Started with Laboratory Exercises

I've just started using a Cyclone II FGPA Starter Board and also Quartus II.I am doing all my programming in VHDL.Its my 2nd week doing the Laboratory Exercises and im finding it hard to progress.

It is helpful that there are some basics tutorials at 1st but as the part in the exercises progresses,the harder it gets.Pretty straight forward.I have been learning all the exercises by self learning but im having problem here and there

Are there any Altera teachers that could explain some concepts or steps that could be delivered or to get the Exercises started?
