DE2 Board and Using VGA output

I'm trying to use the VGA output on the DE2 board and I cannot get anything to work. I've tried looking through Altera's documentation, and searching the web, but I can't seem to find anything that ...

You should read the VGA SPEC. A certain timing is required to make the monitor recognize a valid mode. For Xlinx, there is an example project out somewhere called vgatest.vhd. You might search google for code to find it.
