which linux OS / quartus II free linux web pack versions for stratix ep1s10?

I downloaded quartus II free linux web pack version 10.1 SP1 and tried to install on ubuntu 14.04 but it fails. I am working with boards that have stratix fpga (ep1s10f484). I cannot find info telling me what linux OS is required to run which version of the quartus II free linux web pack software. As soon as I know which linux OS is required I would like to install that as a virtual machine and see if that will work. Thanks.

    After the quartus II 10.1 sp1 installation failed on ubuntu 14.04 I found a readme.txt file in the altera 10.1sp1_quartus_free_linux/linux_installer/quartus_free subdirectory which contains the information I was looking for, I'm planning to try centos4, 32 bits. The first line in this readme.txt file is "Altera Complete Design Suite Release 10.1 SP1 README.TXT", that might be helpful to others.

    That readme file may be out of date. Check the installation instructions that are in the download area for the requirements for the version you are using. Why such an old Quartus version?
