I have not been able to find the Waveform Editor in the Linux Web Edition

    of Quartus II.

Since the Web Edition seems to be used primarily in educational settings, I'm really surprised Altera has released a beta without the waveform editor, as it is pretty useless in a learning environment without it.

On another note: I bought a book for a class I'm currently taking, called Digital Electronics with VHDL by William Kleitz., Quartus II Version.

One has to wonder why this book is even in print since the development board referenced is not even made by Altera anymore, and the MAX 7000 series CPLDs that this programmer is suppose to download to (as used in the book), are no longer available either. Wow, $130 down the drain for a out of date text book.

First, you don't have to say it in 3 different posts.

Second, the simulator will disappear in Quartus 10 anyway, and I don't think there is much point keeping the waveform editor without the simulator...

If you want to learn VHDL and run simulations you should run Modelsim instead.

Scott, I happened see your comment on my textbook. As you can imagine, writing a textbook covering CPLDs and FPGAs is aiming at a moving target. I am in the process of updating the text to cover FPGAs specifically using the DE-series of Altera FPGA development boards. In the meantime my students have easily transitioned over to the DE-2 FPGA development board using the same tutorial provided in my text. Bill Kleitz
