usb driver install for Linux

reading this paper http://www.altera.com/literature/manual/quartus_install.pdf it says that we must install the driver from altera/13.0sp1/quartus/drivers/wdrvr/linux64/ do I have to install it? I read somewhere that libusb does the job. My jtaconfig can recognize my device. The dmesg show me as well my device..
