Quartus version numbering and service packs

I'd like someone could clarify these points related to Quartus software version numbering and service pack installation.

First question:

Is 11.1 the same as version 11.0 with SP1 or is this a different sw version?

Second question:

I installed Quartus 11.0 Web Edition (not Subscription edition) when the SP was not still released and I now want to upgrade, but don't want to move to 12.0.

I'd like to avoid touching the Quartus installation, namely changing project directories and/or converting project files to new formats.

Should I install 11.0sp1 or 11.1sp2 ? What's the better option? I only use CIII devices.

Third question:

It is possible to download a SP upgrade file without the full Quartus installation?

On Altera website I only find the cumulative downloads (i.e: 11.0sp1 or 11.1sp2)

while the simple SP download seems to be possible with subscription edition.

Thank you in advance

    1) quartus II 11.1 is different from 11.0sp1

    2) On altera web site, download center, you can choose which version of Quartus you like. Better is last service pack BUT look at "known issue" and "release note" (quite huge files to read)

(I remember of a service pack which crashes when I was using SOPC Builder)

Be carefull that devices like "cyclone I" may not be supported. Introduction to Qsys, TimeQuest...

    3) Like you, I will be satisfied if I could download ONLY service pack like Windows. But service packs contain many modifications of supported devices. That's why, I'm said, that the files are very very very very very very..... very very.... very too huge !

you should send a service request to altera.

10 GB to install patch, it is too enormous, I agree.
