Whatever I do, the info messages are displayed, even though the box isn't ticked.
Ticking, unticking, 1sec later, the messages are displayed again.

What exactly you are trying to do?
The info message pane can be closed if untick still not working if you prefer to not have any message

The screenshot speaks for itself, the Info box isn't selected, however I still see the infos, there is a bug in the display. Please report.
