Quartus prime lite edition issue

why is the new Quartus prime lite edition not with a model sim and why can't I generate a university or model sim waveform in the lite edition? I am a lab assistant at the university of Huddersfield,...

Well, as of v21.1 Quartus switched to using the Questa simulator, the big brother as it were to Modelsim.

Modelsim per se is deprecated. Likely a new license needs to be issued to use Questa, your old Modelsim license won't work.

If you want/need to use Modelsim you must use v20.1 Quartus or earlier.
