Quartus II DE2 board is not detecting my USB blaster!!!

Hello everyone, I have been having issues with my USB Blaster install for a while now and its becoming very frustrating not getting my board to work so please help me!!! My OS is windows 8.1 and it gave me a hell of a problem just getting to install the driver on my computer. Now that the driver is installed, I go to DE2 board programmer mode and the board is not detecting the USB blaster. I've tried adding device from edit-> add device -> cyclone II -> 'choosing correct chip' but had no luck. I'm sure some of you have had similar experiences and if you have, please help me overcome my current challenges please. Thanks.

    Hi,

I assume you read the UserGuide and have checked the configuration of the DE2 board matches the JTAG configuration you try to use?

With the DE2 board powered and the USB cable connected to both it and your PC, does device manager detect the USB-Blaster on the DE2 board? With device manager open you should be able to plug and unplug the USB-Blaster cable to the DE2 board and see a USB-Blaster appear and disappear accordingly.

Providing device manager can 'see' the USB-Blaster then any higher level software, such as the DE2 board programmer, should be able to use it.

    Regards,

    Alex

Regarding your message above, I can unplug/plug my DE2 and see it appear in the device manager. However, when I try to assign a driver (per Altera instructions and pointing to C://altera/11.1/quartus/drivers) I get the message "Windows found the driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. The hash is not present in the specified catalog file." I can not upload my design as the quartus programmer does not see my device. I installed the software directly from the CD that came with the board. Please help!

    Alex,

Thanks for advice, but Quartus 13.1 does not support Cyclone II. I have tried 11.1, 11.1 sp1, 11.1 sp2, but I still have the same problem!! My computer is Windows 8.
