Quartus II 14.0.0.200 can't update block symbols anymore

Hi,

I just installed Quartus II 14.0.0.200 alongside Quartus II 13.something so I can test it before deploying it. But in my present designs, I can't update block symbols (of compnents generated in QSys) anymore?

Is it Altera, or is it just me?

Cheers, Peter

    OK,

    I tried with a fresh design on both 13 and 14.0.0.200 to track this down: Qsys created the .bsf-file, but I can't see it in the add symbol tool. Manually adding it to the project files doesn't help either. Strangely enough, if I copy the symbol to my projects root folder, I now see both, but that's of course not what I want.

    Anyone else experiencing that?

    Cheers, Peter

    +++ Solved +++

    OK, so adding the project's root folder "./" to my project library path solved the problem of not being able to add the symbol initially after creating and compiling the .qsys component. Explicitly adding the .bdf-file created by the qsys solved the problem of updating the symbol. (In the meantime, I have made a complete reinstall and updated to 14.0.2.209).

    I am surprised it worked in Quartus II 13 without requiring that (I only ever added the .qsys files after creating them)! And to be honest, it still feels kind of strange, as I will have to update all my projects now.

    If such a move is required, maybe Altera should add the project's root folder to the library path by default. And why are the .qsys files and the .bdf files not automatically added to the project files when I create them anyway?

    I hope now, this is the correct way to handle this, but i can't get rid of the feeling, that it is me who is doing something entirely wrong. Can someone comment on this? Can I change the thread title or mark the issue as resolved here in the forum?

    Cheers, Peter
