10 years agoQuartus II 13.0 Web Edition "License File not specified", can't compile anything
Hello all,
I'm a student at UC Davis currently enrolled in a Verilog class, and we use Quartus II 13.0 in class. I am very new to downloading, registering and licenses for this software, so I apologize if this has already been answered elsewhere. The TA said that I could get the Web Edition of Quartus II 13.0 for free, and write, compile, simulate and program my university-provided Altera DE2 board at home on my laptop; however, after downloading and installing Quartus II 13.0 web edition (or at least, I *think* it's web edition, it's listed as Quartus II 32-bit on my taskbar), it refuses to compile, and the error says "License file not specified". I've checked the Altera website and have an account here, an account on Altera, an account with Altera for downloading, and I'm pretty sure I have several other accounts, and different parts of the site variously say that I don't need a license for web edition, that I need it, that I can't get it without another license, that I can get it at a defunct 404 site, to check the wiki, and to check here. In short, I'm rather confounded and confused, rather lost, and would very much appreciate any step-by-step explain-like-I'm-five help anyone can possibly provide here, if anyone could please be willing to give it. I'm terribly sorry if I'm being a bother or a blockhead about this. And I apologize if this is in the wrong place; please feel free to move it to a more appropriate location if it's in the wrong place. Thanks in advance! ~wanderingmagus
