Quartus generates folders

Hello,

since Version 10.0 I think Quartus sometimes (actually very often) generates subfolders in the folders of my design files named "greybox_tmp". In directories with megafunction files the subfolders seem to contain some configuration information. But I've also seen empty ones or folders containing empty text files.

Furthermore Quartus puts IP files (.qip) into folders. Not necessarily matching design files in this folder. Often the IP files are named after other design files located in other directories. This is not very conducive to keep track of my design files.

Does anybody know if I need these files and folders or how I can tell Quartus not to write into my folders?

    as far as i know, you don't need greybox_tmp. i have greybox_tmp on my revision control ignore list

    there may be .qip files for sub modules called by the IP (a high speed interface may call an ALTGX). i normally don't add .qip files from the ip sub-directories unless there is a problem, i just include the IP variant .qip file

    So I'll set that folders on my ignore list too and see if I get any trouble. The .qip files in wrong locations I'll have to clean up manually before commiting I guess. No problem as I am a well conditioned windows user. ;)
