Nios II software Simulator

All,

I was looking for a ISa-level simulator, all in software, for students to use and target a compiler front-end. I know they could target the real hardware, but at this stage it would

be very nice for them to first do use a simulator to check their generated code.

Any such tools out there (like the SPIM simulator)?
