Thanks for the response. I'm still a little confused by the second part though. For our lab we need to come up with a NAND only implementation of an adder. I made the truth table and the equation and used Demorgans to simplify it to a NAND only function but once I put that function into Quartus, it just gets changed to a simplified function using xors etc.
