Hello Im running Windows XP SP3 in a VM under MacOSX. Now I have downloaded quartus 12.0 with modelsim altera and tried to run Modelsim. But only the start screen apears which says modelsim alt...

Are you referring to the

Modelsim ALTERA Edition

or

Modelsim ALTERA Starter Edition?

In the former case: Do you've a valid license file? Is the MGLS_LICENSE_FILE environment variable set correctly (for example "C:\license.txt")?
