modelsim_ae licensing not working
Hello, I am an Intel Intern trying to get modelsim altera edition working properly on Ubuntu 16.04. I have the complete Quartus Prime 18.0 Standard Edition and I have Quartus working and the licensing is set up. However, when I attempt to run modelsim, I get an error about the licensing.
First, I tried to run modelsim through the Quartus GUI, which generated the attached report.
Then, I attempted to run it through command line with ./vsim and this produced the following output:
$ ./vsim
Unable to checkout a license. Make sure your license file environment variable (e.g., LM_LICENSE_FILE)
is set correctly and then run 'lmutil lmdiag' to diagnose the problem.
Unable to checkout a license. Vsim is closing.
** Fatal: Invalid license environment. Application closing.
So I checked to make sure my variable existed:
$ echo $LM_LICENSE_FILE
Then I used lmutil as the above output suggested (I copied the directory I ran this command from too):
~/intelFPGA/18.0/modelsim_ae/linuxaloem$ ./lmutil lmdiag

And this is where I felt stuck. It appears that the diagnostic tool does not believe anything is wrong, so what could be causing this? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards, Alex
