MAX 3000A in Quartus II

When I try to create a new project in Quartus II version 10.1 I do not find a MAX 3000A listed in the device selection window. I see MAX II and MAX V but no MAX 3000.

Can someone tell me how to create a MAX 3000A project?

MAX3000A shows up in my Family list in 10.1 Subscription Edition on Linux

did you choose to install all families? mine is a full install

I choose the families I will be working with, but MAX 3000 is not shown in that list either.

Right now I am downloading Quartus II again and will try another install.

i think the installer has a family called "Mature", MAX3000A may be in there

You're right! They show it as "Legacy" families. I chose that as one of the families and MAX3000A is there.

Has me wondering now, should I have designed in a MAX II or MAX V instead of the MAX 3000? The literature made is sound attractive for what I'm doing.

i would take a look at MAX V. the MAX II only went down to 240 LE which left the 32 macrocell MAX3000A device attractive, but the MAX V goes down to 40 LE and has competitive pricing to the MAX3000A (based on Altera's Buy Online link)
