Failure to obtain a simulation license

Why do I get the following error: "Failure to obtain a simulation license# Error loading design when opening a design to simulate in ModelSim Altera Edition?"

LM_LICENSE_FILE set to ModelSim only.

I will try to download the licensing tools from Altera.
