Examine programming file using Max+plus II

I am having some issues examining an Altera device using Max+plus II.

I am using MAX7000 series EPLD (EPM7256SRC208-7), connected to a PC via a ByteBlasterMV Parallel programmer.

When I load the Max+plus II software, and invoke the Porgrammer i can't get the Examine command to work.

I dont have any design files for the device, however the purpose of the task is to find out what file is currently programmed into the EPLD.

One issue may be that when I load Max+plus II, a previous design comes up and I am not sure how to start a blank project in Max+plus II.

Just seeing the JTAG chain and device through the software would be a big plus at the moment.
