Cyclone III automotive grade support

I just noted that latest Quartus dropped full support for CIII automotive grade. According to a KB article, older projects can still be compiled, but new ones can't be created. The same KB article claims that Cylcone IV automotive grade devices should be used instead.

Anybody has any comment about that? It seems rather strange to me. I don't recall any other case that Quartus dropped support for certain family/subfamily so early. You come to suspect that, conceivable, something is wrong with the CIII automotive grade devices.
