Can't install Quatus V10.0 under XP

Hi,

I'm having a problem installing Free Web Quartus V10.0 under XP. It appears to install OK but when looking at \quartus\bin there are only 2 files. I've tried this on 3 different PCs and get the same result each time. I've donwnloaded the distribution a number of times and get the same file size each time. I've also done a checksum compare on the file with one that a friend has installed successfully and get the same value.

Any help would be appreciated.

    I have attempted a fresh install of V10 on three different XP systems, none of which had a previous version of Quartus installed on them and the installation fails in the same manner.

    Hi,

    how did you do the installation? Downloading the 10.0_quartus_free_windows.exe from the Altera Website and then running the exe ? That's the way I did and I have no problem on my 32-bit XP System.

    Yes thats what I did.

    It is interesting to note that all my systems are4 AMD 64 bit CPU based (both single and dual core) I wonder if this is the problem?

    i'm having the same problem but with the subscription edition.

    it installed ok on a 64bit intel platform running vista64 but failed on a 64bit intel platform running xp32.

    both machines have had previous versions installed with no problems, i know the integrity of my download because it worked on my vista64 machine.

    reading all the other posts there seems to be no pattern as to what version of quartus you are trying to install (web or subscription), what operating system, 64 or 32 bit, amd or intel platform. it seems to have installed correctly and failed on all combinations of the above.

    it has to be down to something like an environmental variable or a specific windows patch that the install isn't happy with...hasn't it ?
