Can QXP files be simulated

Can QXP files be used during simulation with either Modelsim or VCS?

I have made a test for the simulation of project contains the .qxp file.

but i failed! the modelsim does not recognise the .qxp file, and reminders that "Instantiation of 'counter_ip' failed. The design unit was not found."

could anyone help me ?
