Altera WWW file corruption error (MD5 does not match) 11.0_acds_web_edition.iso

The file 11.0_acds_web_edition.iso has been 'successfully' downloaded by two independent users using

different computer systems, networks, ISPs. Both users have received the file with the correct name, size,

and identical SHA1 hashes for their respective downloads, as verified by communications in another forum thread.

The locally end user generated MD5 hash for this file does NOT agree with the official MD5 hash listed on Altera's download web site, resulting in a conclusion that either the officially listed MD5 is in error, or that the file distrubuted by Altera's download server is corrupted at the origin.

Could someone at Altera please verify that the file being served is correct and that the advertised MD5

hash for this file matches the correct file?

It may be seen that the locally generated MD5 doesn't match the Altera listed MD5, nor, indeed, any

of the other MD5s listed on that WWW page.

    Yes, we (as in Altera) had to make a last minute bug fix to the DVD installer, and we missed the MD5 update. Thanks for reporting this.

    Davka, thank you for the information and for updating the site. It is good to know that I downloaded the correct file successfully despite the initial confusion as to the verification information.

    Considering adding the automated generation of zsync or similar (jigdo, torrent, ....) files to the release publication process might be a worthwhile idea as some of the releases exceed 15GBy size which is a fairly large and potentially error prone download even on a good broadband connection and with a less than perfect download manager.

    af1010,

    It is clear that our installer has been growing in size exponentially over the last year or two. This is due to the increased number of devices Altera is producing, the increased complexity of the devices, and the tradeoffs we make to improve compile times.

    So yes, we understand we need to do something about it, and are looking at several ideas, including peer-to-peer, partitioning the installer into multiple files (one download per device family), etc. We are also looking at improving the current Download Manager we use, which does not support some of the new browsers, and creates a lot of the reported problems.
