Does HPS I2C peripheral support clock stretching?

Does anyone know if the I2C controller perhiperal in the Cyclone V with HPS supports clock stretching (slave holding SCL low while processing a request)?

    The HPS TRM states it does support clock stretching:

    Clock Synchronization section:

    Optionally, slaves may hold the SCL line low to slow down the timing on the I2C bus
