Can External Memory Interface for Arria 10 support Dual channel DDR4?
Hi,
I am making a design, using AVMM DMA with External Memory DDR4. I tried with reference design and tested with PCIE gen3x8 AVMM DMA with DDR4. However, as cited in AN829/AN708 and tested as well, it is not possible to write/read simultaneously for Ext DDR4 as on-chip memory.
I have checked there is dual channel DDR4 which support read/write in 2 different channel/port.
However, I am not sure that Arria 10/Intel has IP support for that.
Thanks and regards,
Hung

Hi,
Thank you for joining this Intel Community.
Fo Arria 10 EMIF, it can support up to 4 ranks per channel. A single slot interface may have up to 4 ranks, and a dual slot interface may have up to 2 ranks per slot. For more details, you can refer to this Arria 10 EMIF User Guide: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/documentation/eqw1503946000045.html
Please noted that the maximum number of interfaces supported for a given memory protocol varies, depending on the FPGA in use.
You can refer to Chapter 6.5. Memory Interfaces Support in Intel Arria 10 Device Packages (page 194) to check on the maximum supported number of memory interface per device used here -->https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/programmable/us/en/pdfs/literature/hb/arria-10/a10_handbook.pdf
Hope this helps.
Thanks
