vga display : crt and led/lcd monitor

Hi,

I am using DE2 board connected to my LCD HP L1750 thru VGA port.

I feel a bit confused here because the module used for CRT and LCD monitor are the same?

My LCD monitor obviously do not use the electron beam to redraw the screen. So i think in LCD monitor it should be like manipulating the pixel location directly and faster because it do not need to scan the whole horizontal line right?
