Stratix IV vs. Stratix iii

i expected that when synthesizing the same design on startix iii and IV, stratix IV may give a high performance than startix iii, but the delay i got from stratix iii using Classic Timing Analyzer and TimeQuest Timing Analyzer is better than the delay i got in stratix IV using the TimeQuest Timing Analyzer.

I kept the same optimization options in both projects.

Please anyone have an explanation for this issue ?

I am using Quartus II v. 9.0 on centos, and my design is approximately has 2700 ALUTs.

Hi,

did you convert all your timing assignments into the SDC-file ? What about the speed grade of the device ? Be aware that TimeQuest treats the detected clocks as related.
